How to make someone’s day

ohmygawd…the G-man is on coffee!!! I am both ridiculously giddy about and deeply touched by this.

My amazing friend Steve Hawthorne from Stone Creek Coffee made this happen for G, for his wildlife fundraiser this Saturday, March 31 at Adventure Rock.

As cool and worth sharing as that is, I actually do have a point here. Steve’s kindness has brought to the forefront of mind how wonderful it is to make someone’s day. Within whatever resources we have at our disposal.

It doesn’t have to be STUFF, it can be as simple as a sincere compliment (my Dad is the master of this), a note in a lunchbox, any thoughtful thing that says:

“I see who you are and what you are doing, and care enough to acknowledge it.”

I try to do this from time to time. A yoga class for a friend in need of healing. Emergency gummy candy “meds” for a stressed-out friend. A good book for a friend who is missing her dogs, lost in a sudden divorce. But I need to do more.

It makes a LOT OF JOY. Imagine if we all did this every day.

What can you do to make someone’s day?

Peace. Spaight

How cool! I’d buy the coffee just for the cute and awesome kid!

      Aw thanks Maria. : ]

Love hearing about G’s momentum. I’ve never spelled juggernaut with a G before, but I may start.

And your call for making someone’s day is wonderful. Classified as one of those super easy things to do, but sadly so often even more easily overlooked.

    Not me. Not today.

I’m going to go ‘make the $#@ out of someone’s day right now. Not sure what that means yet, but rest assured someone will be glad I stopped by, wrote or called them.

    Thanks again for the nudge.

    Peace.

It’s inspiring to see a kid like Griffin take some initiative about a cause that’s he feels passionate about. And it’s amazing that it’s been taken to the next level through the help of someone who also is inspired. Like you said, it’s the small and unexpected gestures that can make your day. We all plod along trying to accomplish the million things on our to-do lists most days, and it’s great to know that someone’s thinking of you. If we all did a little more for each other, think how different life could be.

Thanks for the smile this morning!

Mary, thank you. And yes, so true, it often is the little things that matter most. We can’t all pull off the big thoughtful things every day, like coffee packages! But it does go so far and provide so much comfort somehow just to know that someone is thinking about you. Have a great trip to Arkansas! Love, Sue

It’s fun to make someone smile and make their day. Great post. You made me smile today! :)

Woo-hoo! Thanks, Rach. I’m still pondering how to make someone’s day today…

  • Tim Cigelske

Awesome. Where/how can we buy this?

    • http://www.spaighttalk.com Sue Spaight

      Tim – at the fundraiser this Saturday. : ] $10 a bag.

Also wanted to mention to you, if you have any cool kids/adults Teecycle shirts that you want to bring to the event, we can set up a Stone Creek Coffee table/Teecycle table.

In fact, I’d love for this to be a chance to promote more local/sustainable businesses, so if you can think of anyone else who might be interested in participating let me know.

      Thanks, Sue

Thanks, Sue, but no table needed for me. I’ll be there to climb and buy coffee! :)
